If you’ve been paying attention to the magazines and bloggers of our world, you may have noticed that the most popular look this past year has revolved around the shoulder.
I for one, am a huge fan of this look and am enjoying it as much as I possibly can! As you may have seen last week, in my “Event Season is upon us” post, exposing your shoulders can easily translate to the realm of event outfits, without looking trashy or too casual.
Formal events such as galas, fundraisers and other moderately classy functions are coming up, whether we like it or not. One way of pulling off the cold shoulder look without coming off as an 80’s prom queen is by going with a fitted dress in a darker color.
Now, as you can see in the above, my H&M dress is fitted and falls slightly below the knee to offset the show of curves and shoulders with a little modesty.
The slits to the side are less for showing off the legs, than they are for ease of movement, as there is no issue more annoying than having to spend the evening wobbling around because there is no room in your outfit to take a full step forward.
In addition, I’ve paired my dress with a pair of grey velvet pumps from Public Desire and kept the jewelry at an intentional minimum, to leave the focus on the outfit. Sometimes less really is more.
I hope you’ve all had an amazing Black Friday! I know I have!
Happy Holiday Shopping!
