I’m a big believer in the statement that wearing jogging pants out of the house means you have given up on life… Except when your jogging pants are really just as stylish as the rest of your wardrobe of course. Basically, I make an effort to leave the house looking put together, no matter where I go, and the reason for it is not to impress others, but to feel great about myself.
I went through a phase in CEGEP (for my non Quebecer friends, this is the school we attend between high school and university), for about a year, where I did not care what I looked like. All I wanted to do was be comfortable. As a result, I found myself in mainly oversized trackpants and shirts. I noticed that my attitude and how I felt about myself suffered as a result. Getting too comfy and lazy really affected my mental state and my self esteem, so I immediately changed that and went back to wearing pretty dresses, jeans and anything else that made me feel great about myself.
Although this phase was short lived (thank God!), I learned a great lesson. How you dress not only affects how others perceive you, but it also changes your own perception of yourself, whether you are consciously doing it or not. As a result, from then on, I always make an effort to look put together regardless of where I am going, and last weekend was no exception.
Seeing as the weather was slightly warmer than our typical February deep freeze, I took this opportunity to pull out my white converse allstars and a light wool trench coat that I got from H&M in the fall.
I paired the combo with faux leather leggings that I got from Dynamite Clothing, and a lace up knit I found on this inexpensive site called Chicwish.
Although it was cloudy, there was a slightly sunny glare that was strong on my eyes, so I added my favorite pair of Raybans to the mix and voila!
I had a comfortable outfit that was super easy to run around in, kept me warm and still looked cute, classy and well put together.
What about you? Do you have a go to errand running outfit?
Happy Saturday!
