For those who live in Canada or any other Nordic country, you may understand how I feel this week. We went from a balmy and rainy 12 degrees Celsius, to a frozen -27 degrees Celsius overnight. The first part of my week was exciting and motivating. It meant that spring was here and that I could dump my parkas and other annoying and overwhelming winter gear for some lighter clothes and outerwear. Then, as the week went on, I found myself having to put those pieces of clothing, that I am completely annoyed of seeing, back onto my pasty white shoulders so that I can survive without freezing off any part of my limbs.
To summarize, I am sick and tired of winter, the cold, the snow and my winter wardrobe. I want to wear dresses that allow me to expose my bare legs, shoes that do not require socks, and I want to feel the sun touching my skin!
Now, with my rant over, March is here and I wanted to take a little bit of your time to show some of my favorite OOTD’s from this past January and February.
Winter is hard, but it is almost over and I figured that sharing my favorites of the past 2 months may be helpful in getting through whatever is left of it, so here are my top 8:
8- Off the shoulder looks may have only been the “it look” this past year, but they have been part of some of my favorite wardrobe staples for much longer than that. In fact, with this “shopping ban” that I had imposed on myself, I managed to find this off the shoulder knit that I had bought at H&M over 2 years ago.
Pairing the warm top with moto jeans from Dynamite and a pair of Zara pointed toe booties made this a slick outfit for a hockey night at a pub with a few friends.
7- White blouses have always been an office standard, but this year’s trend of wearing extra long white blouses really spices this basic up a notch.
I paired my oversized white blouse with a boyfriend blazer, a pair of black pants and high heeled black Zara booties. A standard office outfit suddenly seems to have a little edge added to it.
6- The next outfit is not something that is a-typical of my posts. It is the standard olive green dress, combined with a pair of leggings, black booties and my hair put up in a ponytail, with knots.
The reason why this outfit made the cut in my top 8 is because this dress, is by far my fav olive dress. The bell sleeves add class, the material is comfortable enough, yet professional enough to pull off at work, and that day, I felt great!
5- Running errands has never been as stylish as it has with this year’s trend of pairing leather leggings (mine are faux) with a pair of white sneakers, a comfy knit and a long coat.
Thank god it was warm enough that day that I could finally sport this coat outdoors… It’s a thin wool trench that I love, but cannot wear as soon as it gets overly chilly.
4- Seeing as I am a child of the 80’s and 90’s, the trend of wearing a top under a dress brings me back to my schoolgirl days.
There’s not better and more exciting way of bringing this trend back than with a black 70’s inspired Zara dress and a pair of thigh high, low heeled boots to keep me warm.
3- I was in the hunt for a new blazer after the holidays, and found this one in Zara’s sale section. What I did not know when I bought it was how OBSESSED I would be with it!
Its perfectly structured, yet oversized so that I can easily pair it with black leggings and a loose black top. Pulling the sleeves up just added a bit of extra flare.
2- This gorgeous outfit is definitely not a new one. I bought both pieces over a year ago and have warn them multiple times.
Nevertheless, the could shoulder knit dress from Dynamite Clothing and over the knee Zara leather booties make me feel fantastic everytime I wear them.
1- Finally, my absolutely favorite outfit of these past 2 months is one that I have recently put together for the first time in a loooooong time.
Seeing SJP pull out a pair of wide legged trousers in one of her IG pictures had made me realize that I have not worn my all time favorite pants all winter. Believe it or not I bought these trousers over 10 years ago from Dynamite Clothing, and they have lasted and been on repeat ever since! Seeing as they are extremely high wasted, I found it very easy to pair the pants with a tan H&M top and my patent leather (faux, obvi.) Public Desire bloc heeled sock booties. I guess these pants are the perfect example of putting thought into what you do clean out of your closet and what you should keep every season. I am definitely glad that I kept these throughout the years.
