If last week’s post was great, but dresses aren’t your thing, this week’s focus on skirts for the office might be the post for you! As fun as summer is when it comes to getting dressed, the office still remains a challenging place, as you need to dress within the realms of the business chic look.  Any skirt that’s too short, or top that’s too revealing can hinder your reputation or simply make you look like you cannot be taken seriously.

While digging through my closet, I found a few of my favorite outfit combos involving skirts, that are appropriate for the lovely summer weather spent in the office environment.

This white on white look, for example, is the epitome of this summer’s monochromatic trend.

White Ruffles and Lace

I bought this white/ivory lace skirt a couple of years ago at H&M and have loved wearing it to work every summer since. The outer portion of the skirt is made of lace, through and through, with an elastic band at the top to fit perfectly and snugly around your waist, regardless of your body shape. To avoid having any inappropriateness in the office, they added a white underskirt to cover the innappropriate parts up.

To add more trend on top of trend, I paired this beautiful skirt with a ruffled sleeve H&M top. The sleeves are somewhat long, which is perfect for any A/C filled office, if you want to avoid layering another sweater on top.

Finally, to add a bit of color contrast, and attract the eye downwards, I threw on my beautiful Brian Atwood “lipstick” mules to finish the look off.

Now, if white on white brings the fear of god in you as a result of being accident prone, but you still love lace details on your skirts, how about some color as an alternative.

I had found this skirt on Venus last year, and found it simple, and beautiful, regardless of its flaws (which I will not reveal to you today).

The lace detailing at the bottom is simply stunning, and the length is very chic, assuming you don’t plan on running any marathons in this skirt any day soon.

I opted to complement this skirt with a knit, short sleeved top from H&M, and a pair of Zara platforms with clear straps to lengthen the legs.

The next option that I dug up was this black and white polka dotted H&M skirt from a couple of years ago as well. It seems that I was on a pencil skirt roll that year!

Seeing as I HATE having a shirt crumpled up in a tight skirt, as it typically shows through, I opted to combine this bottom with a crop top tee, and threw on some strappy Aldo heels, and called it a day.

Classy, chic and easy is my winning combo!

Finally, to show that short skirts can be worn to work and look classy too, I combined my black scallop hem skirt from H&M with a long Zara blouse and a corset belt, which was big this past spring.

Reviving a spring trend by combining my corset belt, with a scalloped skirt and white dress shirt.

The combination is very trendy and modern, instead of going for the usual classic look of a pencil skirt.

To complete the whole look, I threw on a pair of Aldo pumps and voila!

As a woman with a crazy schedule, and very little down time, I typically tend to look for work outfits that are simple and that look good at the same time. Summer is ideal for this as you can easily just throw on a dress and leave the house, but it is nice to have alternative options that can be simple as well.

I hope you all enjoyed this week’s summer outfit options, and I hope you all have an amazing week!
