If you’ve been reading my posts, you may have noticed that lately I’ve been styling lots of blouses under dresses. It is a throwback to the 90s era, which was an era I hold dear to my heart, but it doesn’t mean that I cannot change things up a bit, by styling a knit on top of my dress.
Seeing as the cold is coming, an inevitable fact is that we will be pulling more and more knits out of our closets, dusting them off, and layering them with skirts, pants…and dresses.
This week’s post is the perfect example on how to add a knit sweater on top of a dress to make it either work or play appropriate.
I bought this long Zara ribbed dress a few weeks ago. But, seeing as it’s already sold out, I am linking an alternative for you.
The dress has faux gold buttons from top to bottom, with a slit running along the the center of the skirt, to show the perfect amount of leg off, without making it inappropriate or classless. Although you may not be able to tell from the image, the dress is made with a thick fabric, and knitted into a ribbed texture to keep us warm during those cool fall days.
To add a little “color” to my look, I chose to add a Missguided cropped knit sweater that has a wider neckline and a tie at the front. Now, seeing as I bought this top last year, it isn’t available anymore… but I have again linked an alternative for you.
To complete the look, I added a pair of sock booties that I found at Winners last spring. These beautiful booties are fabric and stretch, which make them extremely comfortable, but a really bad idea for rainy fall days.
If you have a flexible work environment, this may be a perfect option for a day at the office where you want to be comfy. Otherwise, it can also work for a brunch with the girls, or even a casual, no frills night out.
How do you pair your knits and dresses?
I look forward to hearing all about it!
Have a great week!
