Fall trends haven’t typically revolved around florals, until this year. Runway trends and September issues guided us to darker floral looks, and I have not wasted any time jumping on this opportunity, especially with the beautiful weather we have been experiencing.
Aside from buying new clothing, digging into the deep and dark confines of our spring/summer wardrobes allows us to extend the clothing lifecycle, seeing as we likely have an overabundance of floral dresses already tucked away. The trick for fall is that there needs to be some kind of dark in the floral, whether it be the base color of the piece of clothing, or the flowers themselves.
This dress is new, as I’ve been trying to look for non Zara alternatives to my wardrobe (yes, I’m Zara obsessed and apparently everything reflects it), but its color and flow are perfectly on trend.
The Express dress has smaller flowers on a darker colored base, which makes the look perfect for fall as it is more discreet and muted than a typical summer dress. The ruffles on the sleeves and hem keep it feminine, while the v-cut front and elasticated waist add a comfortable and chic vibe to the look.
Although the dress does fit well in most areas, I find that it is not fitted enough at the waist. As a result, I’ve chosen to add a wide elasticated belt to the look to cinch everything in. Not only does this keep the look in check by accentuating the hips, but it also adds a little edge to a beautifully soft and feminine dress.
To keep me warm, I opted to add a Dynamite Clothing moto jacket to the look, which also adds to the edgy vibe that the belt has begun to create.
Finally, to complete the look, I paired everything with my Zara black pumps that have a fishnet sock attached to them. Seeing as it’s pretty warm right now, I opted to go light on the shoes, but this dress can easily be paired with sock booties or over the knee boots as it gets cooler and cooler outdoors.
Do you have a floral piece that you have worked into your fall wardrobe? Please feel free to share your look, and how you make it work for cooler weather.
Have a good week!!
