It’s official! We’ve hit winter weather this past weekend with our first snowfall and freezing temps (I think it was -14C with wind chill this past Friday!!).
With the cold weather settling in, all we tend to want to do is hibernate in our PJs, with a hot cup of tea and our trusty Netfllix. But, reality is we likely have events we will be attending and socializing at instead, seeing as we do have friends and family that we want to keep in our lives!
As a result, the PJs get ditched, and we try to find a trusty and warm alternative, without compromising our style.
Thankfully, my weekend consisted of house parties that weren’t fancy enough to warrant braving the cold in a dress and tights. As a result, I opted for a casual but warm outfit with a little bit of sexy mixed in.
I pulled out my trusted Dynamite Clothing Kate Skinny Jeans for this past Saturday’s fam jam. The dark wash allows for a clean slate when it comes to what colors you want to pair the look with, and the lack of rips and tears keeps it family appropriate so that I could avoid hearing the same joke over and over again (“ah, poor Susan couldn’t afford a pair of jeans so she’s wearing an old ripped pair”…you all have probably heard a variation of it)
I always tend to like to add a particular piece to my look to dress it up a notch. Something out of the ordinary that adds either a little umph to it or changes things up a bit. In this situation, I opted to show some shoulder with this warm off the shoulder knit from Zara.
I have always found that exposed shoulder looks were perfect for winter, as they show some skin while still keeping you covered up and warm. They exude femininity without the sacrifice of sitting at an event and being frozen to death.
Finally, to complete the look, I paired the jeans and top with a pair of Zara fabric booties that gather at the ankle. The booties are super comfy, and on trend with the loose fabric around the ankles that can be styled in multiple ways.
Booties like these are so versatile and can be worn for both work and play because they are so neutral, simple yet beautiful.
Do you have any go to pieces that you turn to when you want to change things up?
Let me know what you think!
I hope you all had a lovely weekend!!
Sue
