As mentioned in my previous post, seeing as I had so much “shoulder content”, because I’m clearly obsessed with this trend, I decided to split the outfit options into two different sections: Off the shoulder looks and cold shoulder looks. Seeing as my last post was about the first option, today, I’ve got you all covered on my favorite choices for the second bunch of outfits.
Technically, the term cold shoulder consist of shirts with somewhat longer sleeves and cutouts at the shoulder. Although some looks in my fav outfit choices fit this description, I also opted to combine these looks with another type of shoulder option that looks just as beautiful: the one shouldered look.
Now if we can move away from the technicalities and onto the outfits, let me show you my top pics from my own wardrobe:
For those who are just getting to know me, I would like to state that I love neutrals and pinks alike. Olive greens, tans, blush pinks and nudes have been “my jam” for many years now. ESPECIALLY during the summer (assuming the summer is nice enough for me to get my tan on…which is not the case this year).
As a result of this love, when I saw this dress on sale at ASOS, I had to get it!
The fabric is silky soft, the cold shoulder look with ruffles going down the center is absolutely on trend with this year’s ruffle details. The wraparound structure is a perfect way to cinch in your waist regardless of how uncomfortable you feel that morning! (ladies, let’s be honest, we all have days like this).
Finally, if you pair the moderately lengthed skirt with a nude pair of high heels, you find yourself ready to go to any fancy event!
My second choice is a beautiful white dress that I bought at Zara last year.
Regardless of the fact that the dress is no longer in their collection, it is still, in my opinion, quite on trend.
The flowy shape of the dress does wonders on the curves you need to hide, while the short length allows you to show off some sexy legs without being too overboard.
Add a cold shoulder and flowy sleeves and VOILA! You have a perfect outfit for a nice hot summer event… just don’t forget to pair it with a cute pair of heels!
Typically, I like to combine this dress with a neutral shoe, as I am a fan of the white and nude combo, but there is also nothing wrong with color blocking by throwing on a pair of flashy, super colorful heels that will grab the attention away from the dress from time to time.
In keeping with the white theme, I also found a white, grecian styled dress from Sabo Skirt, again on sale, that I absolutely loved from the moment I saw it.
I bought it with the hopes of being able to spend many a sunny days outdoors with this beauty on, but unfortunately, with all the rain, there have not been many opportunities to do so.
The knot on the shoulder and the tie around the waist draws the eye to the sexiest parts of the body while keeping it classy, and the dot detailing adds a youthful feel to the dress.
Seeing as the dress has so much detail, it reminds me a bit of what Athena would have worn in ancient Greece. As a result, I opted to pair the dress with nude colored strappy heels from L’Intervalle as to not draw too much attention away from this beauty.
Another option, for a cooler night out, would be to aim for a darker colored, long sleeve, cold shoulder dress, such as the one I bought from Zara last fall.
The long sleeves compensate for the short length and significant leg exposure, as to balance the whole look for any event. It’s also a great way to keep warm on chilly summer nights, as we all know that the arms are the ones that really make us cold.
To complete the look, I opted to pair the polka dotted dress with a pair of Aldo high heeled sandals to add another detailed and textured aspect.
The best part about this dress? The fact that it is dark, and the sleeves are long means that it can easily be pulled off during all four seasons. Add a pair of tights and booties and Fall here we come!
Having realized that most of the looks that I have pulled for today’s post are all dresses, I wanted my last outfit to show you that cold shoulders can be done in many more ways than just one.
The pink colored top that I found at H&M was perfect to combine with a jean skirt for a casual night out.
And if skirts are not your thing, those can easily be swapped out for a pair of jean shorts, to go along with heels or comfortable flats.
Seeing as the sleeves were significantly long, and the fabric is a light knit, I was lucky enough not to have to drag a sweater out with me that night.
As you may have noticed during my last few posts, I’ve been trying to create content that has been more focused on the trends out there right now, and giving you all some styling ideas and tips. It would be amazing to hear some feedback from you all or some special requests as to some specific trends, or pieces that you would like to see styled. Please feel free to send me a quick email, a message below this post or make a comment on my IG letting me know how you feel!!
I look forward to hearing from you all.
Have a great week!!
