Living in Montreal, weekend brunches have been quite the religious ritual for many years now. Not only are we searching for the best coffee and foods to catch up over, but we also try to find the most appropriate outfits for the occasion.

Looking effortless, yet stylish and cute can be quite challenging sometimes, especially in the summer. The hot weather allows for billowy dresses, but what if you want to change it up for once?

This weekend, for example, in honor of one of my girls, the crew got together to celebrate in the old port. As I sat there and debated on what to wear, I had to remember that I had a few things to consider: cobblestone streets, hot sun and crowds of people in one small space, and the fact that the weather has been all over the place and we will be outdoors.

My first choice was to obviously go towards a dress, but there was absolutely nothing in that closet of mine that was floating my boat that morning, so I opted for summer brunch option number 2: shorts and a top.

Beautiful architecture and a flowy and comfy outfit for the win!

These black shorts have been my go to piece when I am not feeling so great about my bod, yet wanted to show some legs off. The wide “legs” on these shorts give the illusion that you are indeed wearing a skirt, and the high waist is forgiving on days when brunch makes way for a food baby.

This ruffled crop top is light and flowy to avoid overheating in the crowds

For a classy look, I opted to pair my shorts with a flowy Zara cropped top that had ruffles coming from everywhere. My shoulders were covered from the sun, yet the breeze was able to easily keep me cool without disrupting my “flow”.

Silver Slides for the ultimate comfortable brunch

Although I am a huge high heel advocate, I can occasionally admit that I will throw on a pair of flats, mainly for practicality purposes. In this instance, for example, I knew that I would have plenty of walking to do, so I opted to pull my look together with a pair of silver slides that I happen to find at H&M.

Complete the look with an everyday purse and a cute pair of sunnies and you’re good to go!

I threw on a brand new pair of Guess sunnies I found at Marshalls just yesterday, and my blush purse from Zara’s summer ’16 collection and out the door I went!

The outfit was a perfect combination of cute and practical, in my opinion, and most importantly, I got to relax and feel good while spending time with my girls!

I hope you all had a great weekend!
